The Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring awards $5,000 to the Early Learning Coalition of Pasco and Hernando Counties to support free parent education.

Spring Hill (December 14) The Florida Medical Clinic Foundation of Caring awarded a $5,000 grant award to the Early Learning Coalition of Pasco and Hernando Counties (ELCPH). The grant covers the program expenses for the Circle of Security® Parenting (COSP) curriculum materials and technology offered through the Coalition’s free Parent “virtual” Workshop: The START Initiative (Support, Teach, Acknowledge, Respect & Trust). Over 40 Pasco and Hernando families have participated since the START Initiative launched 2 years ago! The START Initiative offers the COSP™ to participating families at no cost to the parent or caregiver. The grant funding enables the ELCPH to continue focusing on providing parents and caregivers all relationship-based parenting techniques and resources, including the book “Raising a Secure Child.” The book is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. The COSP™ model is developed by the Circle of Security originators to help parents and caregivers to:

  • Understand their child’s emotional world by learning to read emotional needs.
  • Support their child’s ability to successfully manage emotions.
  • Enhance the development of their child’s self-esteem.
  • Honor the innate wisdom and desire for their child to be secure.

ELCPH is grateful that the Foundation of Caring recognizes the value of strengthening relationships between parents and children. Our next START Initiative COSP™ parent workshop offered via zoom will begin February 6 – March 19, 2024. To register or for more information please contact Brenda Mayo at b.mayo@elcph.org
