Spring Hill, FL (August 9, 2023) The Early Learning Coalition of Pasco and Hernando Counties (ELCPH) invited Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) families to a special FREE Transition to Kindergarten celebration in partnership with Pasco and Hernando County Libraries. We also like to thank HappyFeet Tampa Bay for sponsoring our Transition to K events and supporting early childhood education.
Transitioning into Kindergarten can be a challenging time for children. Per the ELCPH, with the right resources and support, this change could end up being a stimulating opportunity for development and learning. Transition refers to the totality of experiences and opportunities a child encounters in moving from one program or setting to another. These kinds of events, where parents are given the materials and guidance, encourage their child’s learning to make transitions easier and serve to connect families with valuable resources in their community.
On Saturday, July 22, the “Get Ready for Kindergarten” event at the South Holiday Library Branch in Pasco County welcomed more than 50 VPK families. On Saturday, July 29, more than 100 VPK families gathered at the Spring Hill Library in Hernando County. The Coalition provided a variety of giveaways such as free backpack kits, literacy activities and children with their own kindergarten journal. We appreciate both library’s Storytime reading of “A Night Before Kindergarten” by Natasha Wing. ELCPH was delighted to meet our VPK families in person and to be a part of helping to make this important transition for VPK graduates to kindergarten easier for Pasco and Hernando County families!
