We would like to inform you that on August 21, 2024, the State Board of Education approved Rule 6M-8.622, Florida Administrative Code, which introduces a new performance metric and designation system for Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) Education providers.

This rule establishes enhanced accountability for VPK programs as outlined in Section 1002.68, Florida Statutes. It details the procedures the department will use to calculate each VPK provider’s performance metric and assign performance designations. Key accountability terms and definitions include composite program assessment score, eligible children, growth rate, highest literacy classification, kindergarten readiness, and performance metric designations.

The rule also outlines the three components used to calculate the performance metric: quality, achievement, and learning gains. These components will play a crucial role in determining your performance designation.

Please note: This new accountability system will take effect at the end of the 2024-2025 VPK program year. The department will calculate and assign performance metrics and designations within 45 days after the conclusion of both the VPK school-year and summer programs.
