FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Early Learning Coalition and the SECO Energy Foundation supports literacy spaces with the Florida Department of Health in Pasco and Hernando Counties.

Hudson, FL – February 10, 2026.  For 20 years, The Early Learning Coalition has supported children and families across Pasco and Hernando Counties (ELCPH). We’re excited to celebrate two new Owlivia’s Book Nooks (Children’s library), as a donation to the Florida Department of Health – the Women, Infant and Child (WIC) Clinics in both Hudson and Spring Hill, Florida.  The generous support of the SECO Energy Foundation enabled the ELCPH to establish these new literacy spaces at the WIC clinics, providing families and young children with access to high-quality children’s books and supporting a healthy start for every child.

The SECO Energy Foundation is committed to uplifting and strengthening communities across SECO Energy’s service areas which include Pasco and Hernando Counties. Through strategic grants and partnerships, the Foundation supports local nonprofits doing vital work for families and communities.  “Supporting early literacy is an investment in our communities. We’re pleased to partner with the Early Learning Coalition to expand access to books for young children”, says SECO Energy Foundation Executive Director, Mariah Delgado.

The ELCPH’s early literacy “Book Nook” initiative reaches families beyond the preschool classroom, especially in communities with lower kindergarten readiness rates. “By meeting families where they are and providing children’s books in trusted community spaces, we’re helping turn everyday moments into opportunities for learning and connection.” Said ELCPH Executive Director, Steve Knobl, Ph.D.

Early literacy is a shared responsibility. Community partnerships allow us to close gaps in access to books and give every child the chance to succeed in school and life!
